Governance information – Trustees

Megan Bell (Chair), appointed 01.09.17: senior associate at the Bank of England with experience in financial regulation. Skills in stakeholder management, communications and project management. Previous activity in the voluntary sector includes being a reading partner for Tower Hamlet schools (and pro bono work for the office of the Federal Public Defender in San Francisco, California).

Jonathan Cole, (Hon. Treasurer), appointed 28.09.16: chartered accountant, retired business executive with experience in finance and commerce. Experienced in supporting and volunteering in the voluntary sector as he is also a treasurer of another care home charity for women.

George Knight, (Safeguarding Lead) appointed 26.11.18: George works for Directory of Social Change as Head of Customer Services and Facilities. He works with the customer service team to support them to help DSC’s beneficiaries continue helping others. He joined St Mary’s Secret Garden as a trustee in 2019 and acts as the safeguarding lead. He volunteers once a month completing various tasks alongside other volunteers and beneficiaries in the garden.

Jean Roberts, appointed 12.01.18: experienced executive in the environmental sector, specializing in sustainable energy and renewables, with particular emphasis on project management and policy development in both private and public sector.

Sarah Willis, appointed 29.01.18: health economist in academia before moving into local government with GLA as a specialist in appraisal and evaluation involving collection and analysis of data. Good communication skills. Particular interest in how gardening can contribute to individual wellbeing.

Pamela Vera, appointed 28.08.19: Policy Advisor with skills in policy, communications, programme project management and strategic planning. Previous experience with children and adults with various disabilities as a Relief Worker and SEND Teaching Assistant. Also currently delivering freelance creative workshops.
