Ecominds volunteering

We are starting work on an exciting new gardening project funded by Ecominds, a £7.5million funding scheme run by Mind on behalf of the BIG Lottery Fund. Ecominds involves people with direct experience of mental distress in environmental projects that improve their mental and physical health, and local communities.

The project will run for a whole year – from January 2011 to January 2012
Its main aim is to re-design a corner of St Mary’s Secret Garden to create a well-being zone that can be used by all. This zone will be created by people who have, or have had, experience of mental distress.

Gardening sessions will be held on Monday afternoons 2pm - 4pm (excluding bank holidays) and Thursday mornings 11am - 1pm.

• We are looking for supported volunteers who have or have had experience of mental distress to come and join us, either as a drop in volunteer or as part of a core group.

• We are also looking for supporting volunteers who can come and help with the project.
